Tribe Launches Ojibwe Language Learning App

The Cultural Preservation Department has launched a free mobile app to help tribal members learn and practice the Ojibwe language from anywhere.

App Features

  • Over 3,000 words and phrases with audio by fluent speakers
  • Interactive lessons organized by theme (family, nature, ceremonies)
  • Daily vocabulary challenges and quizzes
  • Stories narrated by tribal elders
  • Community discussion board for learners

The app, called "Ojibwemowin" (which means "speaking Ojibwe"), is available for free download on iOS and Android devices. It was developed in partnership with the Ojibwe Language Immersion Program and the tribe's IT department.
